A new Pastor from St Vincent and the Grenadines has been named for the People’s Pentecostal Family Church in Goodwill.
The position has been vacant since the passing of Bishop Michael “Bill” Daniel on August 22, 2014.
Pastor Casmus John will be formally introduced to the congregation on Sunday. He arrived in Dominica with his family Wednesday February 4th, 2015. Pastor John has been in ministry for over 15 years.
He is involved in counseling and was also a lecturer in St Vincent.
Since John was named new pastor of the church, questions were being asked as to why wasn’t a local one chosen to take up the position.
But according to Bishop Ninian St. Louis, the Pentecostal Church is a ‘fellowship’ and whenever there is a vacancy in a church, anyone is entitled to apply.
“We are a fellowship and whenever there is a vacancy at the Church, it has to be advertised in the various districts and any Minister who is qualified and meet the criteria, they have a right to apply and that was done,” he said.
He stated that John was interviewed “and based upon the interview he was presented to the church and the church voted in favour of him.”
St. Louis described John as a “family man.” He is married and is father to three children.
John’s predecessor, Bishop Daniel, served in many pastoral capacities and was awarded the Dominica Meritorious Service Award, the nation’s third highest award.
He was laid to rest on September 8, 2014
